MEET THE PRINCIPAL
Kartoe P. Sakpeider, CPA, CIA
Kartoe is the principal of Open Book CPA. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Kartoe began his career at a small Minnesota accounting firm, where he audited nonprofit organizations and gained firsthand experience with their distinct financial and reporting needs. He later continued his public accounting career at larger firms, including a Big Four firm.
After public accounting, Kartoe transitioned into internal audit, finance, and risk management, spending more than a decade in roles across three Fortune 500 companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
Founding Open Book CPA represents a return to Kartoe’s nonprofit roots. He brings the perspective gained throughout his career to help mission-driven organizations strengthen their accounting, understand their financial information, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
